Went from 1-2 times per hour to multiple times per hour sometimes, especially after the most recent patch. Before the anniversary update it ran flawlessly 100% of the time, after it's just disconnect after disconnect.
Rename the shortcut to Guild Wars 2 Logging. Right-click on Guild Wars 2 Logging and select Properties. Locate the Target line and add -log after the existing text. Your target line should now look something like this: C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -log Click OK to save your changes.
A lot of people in game were asking in map chat why we were getting connection issue pops ups. Currently there's a massive blizzard going on that's messing with the connection. I wanted to do this post to answer why in case people look to the forums for answers.
I ran the following command in an admin command prompt, netsh winsock reset. 1a. Rebooted. Added /clientport 443 to the desktop shortcut target for Guild wars 2. 2a. apparently this forces the client to use port 443, a commonly open port, as GW2 likes to switch ports mid mission causing these disconnects.
To check where the gw2.exe connects to, follow these steps: run gw2. press CTRL SHIFT ESC. Performance tab and click Resourcemonitor on bottom. click Network tab, click gw2.exe and open TCP-Connections on the bottom. Under latency you´ll see your ping. (you should see 3 gw2.exe, most likely loginserver, gameserver and something else, maybe TP)
I don't understand why Guild Wars 2's handles lag and mini-dcs the way it does. This is partially a vent thread but honestly the issues I'm experiencing with Guild Wars 2's connectivity is out of this world. Lately I've been having some mild connection issues: every 10-20 minutes, I get a mild one-time lag spike (from 40 ms to 140ms ) to Guild
Guild Wars 2 installer not working. [Question] Edit for anyone with the same problem in the future: I was able to download it by renaming the guild wars install file to gw2.exe and then I put it in its own folder on the desktop. After that I went into trend micro and made an exception for the folder and I was able to launch the download.
A friend of mine had an issue similar to this, support said it could be AVG's firewall. Uninstalled AVG, still had the problem. Uninstalled some other random shit (mostly adware) that was installed recently and it worked fine without any issues.
